Location. Modern, high rise Hotel Alto Lido is located in the Lido holiday area of Funchal, Madeira, within 500 metres of the beach and three and a half kilometres of Funchal Marina. There is a shopping centre 300 metres away.
Hotel Features. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Hotel Alto Lido has 14 floors and is smoke free. A tree lined road leads up to the hotel, where there is complimentary parking for 80 cars. A canopy shades the hotel entrance, with landscaped grounds and the hotel pools at the back.
Hotel Alto Lido offers complimentary buffet breakfast at the Baia Azul restaurant. A contemporary restaurant with polished wood floors and discreet ceiling lighting, it also serves local and international dishes for lunch and dinner. The poolside restaurant offers drinks, snacks and an a la carte lunch menu. There is entertainment in the lobby bar every evening.
There is an Internet room in the hotel, and facilities for meetings, conferences and events.
The hotel boasts two outdoor pools, one for children, and an indoor pool with a skylight ceiling. There is also a gym, sauna, jetted tub and squash courts, and a games room with billiards and table tennis. There is a golf course seven kilometres from the hotel.
Guestrooms. The hotel's 311 guestrooms have balconies with sea views and seating areas with sofas. Rooms also have satellite television, minibars, dial up Internet access (surcharge), refrigerators and bathrooms with complimentary toiletries.
Expert Tip. Small canals criss cross Madeira, once the only way to transport water. Known as 'levadas', today they are popular walking routes taking in the island's spectacular scenery.

From Funchal Madeira Airport (FNC):
Distance to Hotel Alto Lido is 22 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Taxis to central Funchal cost approximately 30 EUR. The Aerobus runs to the city centre every 30 minutes. Single tickets cost 5 EUR. Local buses also operate between the airport and the city centre. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Funchal and the surrounding areas are served by a good public bus network. A car is useful for travelling further afield.
Driving directions. Take the main road and follow signs to Funchal from the airport.
Leave at junction number 9.
Pass by the hospital, a set of traffic lights and a sign for LIDO.
Take a right turn and head for the Lido area and the Estrada Monumental.
The hotel can be seen from here; a tall building with its name on the main wall.
